CNC aluminium milling machine for

cast aluminium bars

A leading aluminium producer uses the latest FOOKE CNC aluminium milling machine in GANTRY high portal design for the precise machining of cast aluminium bars. This machine is perfectly designed for the requirements of the aluminium industry and offers maximum efficiency in material processing.
The aluminium bars with dimensions of up to 7,000 x 2,300 x 620 mm are clamped on the machine. Two high-performance direct motor high-frequency spindles (440 kW, 3,000 rpm, 1,400 Nm each) are used for machining. Due to the HSC technology (high-speed cutting), small chips are produced that are perfect for the subsequent briquetting process.
The machine achieves an impressive metal removal rate of up to 2 x 40,000 cm³/min (40 l/min), which drastically reduces the machining time. This is supported by adaptive feed speed control, which automatically adjusts to the material properties.

Customised vacuum clamping device

The aluminium plate is placed onto the modular vacuum clamping plate, which is equipped with adjustable longitudinal and transverse slots. These enable the flexible fixing of a wide range of plate formats. After positioning, the vacuum system is activated, which fixes the plate securely and evenly. The flat clamping force minimises vibrations, improves dimensional accuracy and ensures excellent surface quality. An integrated monitoring function also ensures that the workpiece is securely fixed during the entire machining process. This system offers our customers maximum stability and efficiency in the precise machining of large-format aluminium plates.

With the large-dimensioned milling tool Ø up to 3,100 mm, our customer efficiently removes excess material in one single run. The CNC aluminium milling machine allows a cutting depth (ap) of 0.1 to 2.0 mm and a cutting width (ae) of up to 3,000 mm. This is followed by fine machining to achieve the desired surface quality. The CNC aluminium milling machine achieves a roughness depth (Ra) of less than 0.28 to 0.40 µm, which meets the high requirements for processing precision plates.
